So I was talking the other day with someone on how there really is no way for people to clearly get an overview of all the technology companies here in Fresno.  This could be software companies, hospitals, manufacturing, basically any company located here in Fresno that has an IT or Programming department.  Everything in this city is so disconnected and scattered that it’s almost impossible to locate everywhere.  This would be a perfect tool for people who may have been laid off of their job and are trying to find companies here in town who are looking a software programmer.  Also, it could help keep programmers local as they wouldn’t venture out of Fresno to look for a job.

What do you think?  I would like to collect as many companies here in Fresno as I can and I will compile this into a separate page on my site called “Fresno Technology Companies”.  Here is what I’m looking for:

Name of the Company
Website
What skills they utilize like ASP.NET, Python, Java, etc.
Are they hiring?

I think this would be a great tool to use and keep updated, and I would try my best to keep this list refreshed as much as possible.  If you have any technology companies in Fresno to share, please do by leaving a comment!

Don’t know. I’ve heard they use it all. Old school Python, ASP.NET, C++, Visual C, Java, etc.

I don’t have all the details, but here are some companies I’ve kept in a bookmark folder titled Fresno Technology: Lotpath, SJV Technology, Yosemite Tech, Decipher (survey software, a Python shop), Famous Software (agriculture), Pelco, Autosoft, Argos (accounting), GoRoute, VisionOne (Robert’s employer), Forward Advantage, DPS (telecom, PHP), BCT Consulting, Agrian (agriculture)

PELCO
http://www.pelco.com/

C/C++
Qt
Windows/Linux (Mostly Linux)
Some C#/WPF (one app)
Flex/Flash (just starting)

From the Systems Engineering side we do a ton of lowest common denominator coding in C++ because we’re very cross platform. So we make use of STL, ACE, and on the UI side Qt.

Most of our products are Linux based “appliances”, we have one hardware product we sell that ships with Windows, the WS50XX line. NVR’s, Decoders, Encoders, and Cameras run on Linux.

And yes, we’re hiring, always looking for good talent, here in Clovis, Ft. Collins, CO, and Pleasanton, CA.

Rob Fahrni added these pithy words on Oct 02 09 at 10:37 am

Darn, sorry for the spam. Yes, we make use of Python as well, for services on some of the boxes. We also have some Ruby code floating around.

One thing I’ve noticed from my limited research of Fresno area technology related firms, Java technology is not to be found.

Derek added these pithy words on Oct 02 09 at 2:52 pm

Rob forgot to mention that there is a lot of Java going on now at Pelco.

Paprika Studios

We’re a small web dev/communication firm – we build mostly on opensource PHP/MySQL platforms, but it depends on the project and who we’re collaborating with.
Not currently hiring in-house, but we definitely want to know who’s out there.

You guys missed a few… PHP (API group and camera group), AJAX (javascipt), Postgresql (SQL), plain old C, a large set of Ruby tools, I think Imaging even developed some Windows CE and Palm apps. I know I’ve heard rumors of iPhone apps too, not to mention my Android Apps (no one really cares about that) ;)

US Script (usscript.com). We’re a pharma benefits mgmt company, so not a software shop.

I’m the sole web developer here and am currently using asp.net mvc, jquery, mssql & php.

The other devs here do a lot of Oracle DB, forms & reports stuff. Many came from Gottschalks within the last couple years.

Don’t know anything about their tech. But their founder, Laurie Kronyak, will be at the Central Valley Software Partnership meeting this Thursday Oct 8 at 8AM at the Central Valley Business Incubator at 1630 E. Shaw Ste 163, Fresno. She’ll be talking about a product they’re working on.

Crop Production Services (formerly Western Farm Service) was a spot for VB.Net/ASP.Net/RPG guys but as of today (12/01/09) it’s moving all resources to Greeley CO.

I hadn’t planned on using this to troll for leads, I was going to offer some, but suddenly things have been turned topsy turvey.

There are positions in Greeley CO though.

Sorry Jeff, that’s sad to hear. As much as we all wish to keep things here in the valley it doesn’t always work out that way.
